Stepping Out In Faith
Scripture Insight: Matthew 14:29-31
In the journey of stepping out in faith, there are moments that call for courage and a leap into the unknown.
Stepping out in faith, especially in uncertain times, is a profound act of trust in God’s plan and timing.
“He said, ‘Come.’ So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord, save me.’ Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'”
Reflective Questions
Identifying Your Boat: What represents the ‘boat’ in your life – a place of comfort or security? How does this passage encourage you to step out of it?
Facing The Winds: What fears or doubts emerge when you think about stepping out in faith? How can you address these fears with God’s help?
Eyes On Jesus: In moments of doubt, how can you refocus your gaze on Jesus and His promises?
Devotional Thought
Consider Peter’s bold step out of the boat onto the water.
His action wasn’t just a physical step; it was a profound statement of faith in Jesus.
However, when the winds of reality struck, his faith wavered.
This is often our experience too.
Stepping out in faith means moving beyond our comfort zones, guided by our trust in God’s promises.
When doubts and fears cloud our vision, it’s essential to refocus on Jesus, who is always ready to extend His hand in our moments of need.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, as I stand at the edge of my own ‘boat,’ contemplating the steps I need to take in faith, fill me with courage and trust in You.
Help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, especially when the winds of doubt and fear arise.
Guide my steps according to Your will, and provide me with the assurance that You are with me, even as I step into the unknown.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
