God’s Way Not Mine

Scripture Insight: Hebrews 113

At times we forget that it is “God’s Way Not Mine.”

On occasion we do not have a deep trust in God’s superior wisdom and direction, and the divine capacity to guide and provide for us.

The emphasis on trusting in God’s Way Not Mine is commitment to live a life guided by divine will, allowing every step to be a testament to God’s unfailing love and wisdom.

Reflective Questions

In what ways have I experienced moments when God’s solutions have unexpectedly solved problems in my life?

How can I practice releasing my desire for control and embrace trusting in God’s perfect ways more fully?

Reflect on a time when following your own plan led to challenges. How might surrendering to God’s will have changed the outcome?

What steps can I take to ensure that my prayers reflect a spirit of submission to God’s will rather than a list of personal demands?

Devotional Thought

As we stand at the crossroads of decision, the allure of forging our own path can be tempting.

It promises control and the comfort of predictability.

Embracing God’s way means surrendering the familiar for the divine, trusting that His path, though often mysterious, leads to a fulfillment no earthly plan can offer.

In those moments when our plans crumble, and our hearts yearn for clarity, let us find solace in the certainty of God’s perfect sovereignty.

By relinquishing our need to control the outcome, we open ourselves to the beauty of God’s provisions, crafted not from our limited perspective but from His all-encompassing love and wisdom.

Today, let us step out in faith, choosing not the path of least resistance, but the path illuminated by His light, where true peace and purpose are found.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a heart full of trust, despite the fog that often surrounds my path.

I confess that my human eyes are shortsighted, and my understanding limited.

But it is amazing that when I am in trouble and cannot see my way through, God will surprise me with a solution.

In these moments of revelation and rescue, I am humbled by Your wisdom and Your care for me.

Your ways are higher than mine, Your vision stretches far beyond the horizon of my comprehension, and for this, I am eternally grateful.

Lord, I admit that my prayers are sometimes a list of demands rather than a submission to Your divine will.

I often present a solution to God in my prayers to convince Him to do it my way.

But in the quiet recesses of my spirit, I know that Your way is not just better, it is perfect.

Help me to relinquish my desire for control, to embrace the beautiful uncertainty that comes with absolute trust in You.

May my supplications become echoes of Your promises, and my plans be pliable in Your hands.

Therefore, Almighty God, I ask for the courage to surrender my desires daily.

I trust that You are the creator of the worlds by Your word.

Your creation teaches that the things which are seen were not made from things visible.

This is affirmed in Hebrews 11:3.

O God, I cling to this truth. Faith is not about holding onto what is visible.

It’s about trusting in Your unseen hand at work.

I choose Your way, not mine, as I step into the unknown.

I believe that You have already prepared the path.

Your light will guide me through.

Strengthen my faith, O Lord, so that I may walk in the certainty of Your promises.

Let me not dwell in the shadow of my doubts.

Guide my steps in Your way, not mine.

Let my life be a testament to Your unfailing love. Let it reflect the unsearchable depths of Your wisdom.

In the precious name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
